Infants are defined as UNDER 1 YEAR OLD.

*If you are alone with the infant give 2 minutes of CPR before calling 911*

  1. SHOUT AND TAP – Tap the infant on the shoulder and shout. If no response or not breathing start CPR.
  2. CHEST COMPRESSIONS – Give 30 compressions in the center of the chest just below the nipples at the rate of 100-120/ minute. 1.5 inches deep.

3. OPEN THE AIRWAY – Head tilt, chin lift.

4. GIVE 2 GENTLE BREATHS – If the infant is not breathing give 2 breaths, cover the infants MOUTH & NOSE with your mouth. Each breath should be 1 second long, you should see the chest rise and fall.

CONTINUE WITH 30 COMPRESSIONS AND 2 BREATHS UNTIL HELP ARRIVES
